Things to know before applying
Thank you for your interest in the Strait Talk Symposium. Strait Talk is a non-partisan dialogue program that seeks to transform international conflict by connecting young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait and the United States and empowering them to strive for peace. We are looking for students and professionals who demonstrate interest in and commitment to peace-building across the Taiwan Strait. During the symposium, delegates will participate in Interactive Conflict Resolution (ICR), which is an intensive process that requires constant engagement and sensitivity. Delegates are also expected to craft implement efforts that will engage with long-term conflict-resolution after the symposium.
Strait Talk Berkeley 2020 will be held on March 16th (Mon) to March 20th (Fri), 2020 at University of California, Berkeley. We are recruiting 12 delegates (four for each delegation) aged 18-35 and applications are due January 17th (Fri), 2020 23:59 Pacific Standard Time (UTC/GMT -8). Thanks to our sponsors from Berkeley Institute of East Asian Studies and ASUC of UC Berkeley, no participation fee is required to attend the symposium and lodging along with partial meals will be provided during the symposium. Delegates are responsible for covering their own travel expenses to and from UC Berkeley and are eligible to apply for financial aid if needed.
